Clanging Ray

i dreamt of a day in the near future
when the sky will hold the sun up
by the bridge of its nose
and the trees will sway
with newfound purpose in the wind
and the heat will be quenched by a garden hose
i knew you
i dreamt of a heat so unbearably high
that the sea will evaporate
and the asphalt liquefy
and the dark rivulets will flow to the lowest points
and the dark streaks in the sea beds
will trace out new designs
i knew you

I Was Followed
02:41

sacks of rivets make an awful noise
and an awful mess as they dive
and scrape on pavement cracked concrete
until silence filters in
the wind picks hints of orange and mint
as the streetlights bobble softly
somewhere cinched up window panes
split loose in dull defence
coffee breath gullies in all hot and bitter
and i don't know where it's from
once i'd welcome any blanket heat
now i don't know where it's from
i know by now i've been seen and heard
my consciousness is on radar
a blink of light on the outer edge
of some computer specked out tangent
i wrap myself in dryer sheets
stuff my mouth with chips of cedar
i was followed here

Broker
03:26
|

let me know where you have gone
raise your voice, a kind alarm
there is something i wish i could remind you
there are moments in every alignment that take you away
there's a breath in the airlock
and stitches of fabric
enough to incite you for years
there's a warm hint ochre
and black in the lining
and the scratch of the dull pinking shears
there's a breath on your neck line
there's a shape in your window
and crackling timelines
and heat off your pillow
and the ceiling resolves as we fly
and the floor moves as if it is free

One Tall Figure
04:11
|
|||
there's a scratch on every wall in shapely letters clear and tall
and his square bulk puffs a shadow down the hall
the air holds dust like a fat balloon, stale light simpers through the room
as he shuffles, ducking rafters wracked with scrawl
somehow then he knew my name
every inching paragraph, winds in loops around his path
tracing shudders, pressing tight against the wall
a crater carved into the dirt, for ages tugging at our shirt
with suggestions, and an incremental call
shiver flip the switches up and run
burn the dome lights hot and long, let them kick sparks
is there a place that i can go
and lead myself around?

The Breeze
03:49
|
|||
there's a beautiful airport being built on the outskirts of the city
and i can't wait to take my family to go and see
my daughter will run her hands all along the glittering technology
she'll ask me, "dad, how many thoughts had to be thought to build one of these?"
my son slow to move will drag his feet
duck his head, hide a smile, and try hard not to look at me
my wife will gather up her body like a spring
and soon enough walk around against the breeze
the breeze
debris
and i will stand by the car
